DNP Employees Make 200 Masks

04/28/20

On Wednesday, April 15, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf issued an order requiring employees and customers of essential businesses to wear masks. The new mandate to protect workers went into effect that Sunday evening. Plants authorized to operate during the pandemic like DNP had just two business days to source masks for their on-site workforce.

DNP's Human Resources Manager Julie Maystrovich and International Executive Assistant Yukari Fabrizi quickly teamed up to tackle the project.

"We made about 200 in two days," says Maystrovich. "Yukari brought in a sewing machine, and we are still making extras in our spare time."

According to Fabrizi, they overcame a few challenges along the way. Surprisingly, neither of the employees previously knew how to use a sewing machine, and some materials were difficult to source due to a spike in demand. "We could not find any elastic. We use a rubber band."

While taking necessary measures to protect employees and their families, DNP is pleased to continue safely fulfilling orders and shipping on-time from Mount Pleasant and each distribution point across the USA.

"Whatever it takes to keep us operational!" says Maystrovich.
