Employees Donate Over 500 Gifts

12/20/19

DNP employees have organized the donation of over 500 gifts for individuals and families in need this holiday season. Their employee-run Giving Committee hosted raffles, food sales, and football pools, in addition to collecting gifts and monetary donations for this year’s “Holiday Cheer” project.

The committee partnered with Westmoreland County Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA) to brighten the holidays for 30 of their Guardianship Older Adults, collecting and wrapping over 200 gifts for donation. WCAAA is designated by the state to administer human service programs at the local level, and has been providing services and opportunities to older adults since 1967.

In addition to older adults, DNP employees sponsored nine families with Westmoreland Community Action (WCA). WCA strives to strengthen communities and families to eliminate poverty in the region through housing, counseling, support, education, intervention, and more. DNP's Giving Committee collected and wrapped over 300 gifts for children ages 0-17 and their parents.

Now an annual tradition, the “Holiday Cheer” project began in 2016 and has continued to garner the attention of additional sponsors and local participation. This year, Leo’s Pub and Grille in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, hosted a Giving Tree at their restaurant, expanding the program’s reach out into the community. DNP’s Giving Committee would also like to recognize the following people and organizations who contributed this year:
