Wish Granted

05/24/19

DNP’s Giving Committee is proud to partner with the Westmoreland County Chapter of Twilight Wish Foundation to recognize a local senior. Thomas, a resident at The Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Greater Pittsburgh (RNC), was presented with tickets to see The Who when they come to PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on Thursday, May 30. Transportation and dinner at Burgatory were also provided, along with a swag bag of The Who merch and spending money to purchase more at the show. This will be the first time Thomas has seen The Who perform live.

Thomas was nominated by employees and residents of RNC in recognition of his spirit of volunteerism. He delivers the mail at RNC, earning him the nickname Mr. McFeely after the delivery person from Mister Roger’s Neighborhood. He previously volunteered at Rehabilitation Hospital of Harmarville. Currently, he assists the Activities Department at RNC and regularly visits with the residents around his facility. Thomas is also known to share music from his tablet during mealtimes at the Center.

DNP employees collected over $1000 during the month of April to fulfill the wish through various fundraisers, including hot lunches, tip boards, raffle tickets, and Easter candy sales.
